Wimauma

For over five years, CCC has invested in Wimauma as a long-term partner, focusing on approaches that help residents lead the way in strengthening their own community. By centering local voices, providing practical tools, and encouraging active involvement in local planning, cultural events, and community-driven initiatives, we aim to ensure that Wimauma’s future is shaped by those who call it home.

Jason Gonzalez, who grew up in Wimauma, and Fatima Elkott draw on their deep connections and experience working with various nonprofit organizations and informal groups to support the community’s growth. Their collaborative efforts have included building data resources, forming coalitions among nonprofits, and enabling residents to step into leadership roles.

Currently, CCC is working with Hillsborough County and Stantec to guide the community engagement process for the Bethune Park Master Plan. This partnership ensures that residents’ priorities inform how the park and surrounding areas evolve.
