CCC’s work in Town ‘n Country began when Fatima Elkott worked with Sweetwater Organic Community Farm in 2021 to see if residents wanted a community garden in their neighborhood.
Fatima would regularly canvass, communicate with residents and organizations in the area, and volunteered at Town and Country elementary to learn more about the community and its needs. Combining this knowledge with an in-depth literature review and analysis, Fatima created the community report below and used ESRI’s StoryMap to tell the story of Town ‘n Country.

Please see the documents below for a more in depth look at the Town ‘n Country community from the 2021 Resilience and Energy Assessment of Communities and Housing Analysis.
Fatima joined the Town ‘n Country Collaborative, a coalition of service providers in the area who were focused on early learning. The group had initially convened for a study conducted by the University of South Florida. After working with the collaborative for over 2 years, Fatima is now facilitating the group to expand its capacity to all residents of Town ‘n Country and to function as an action-oriented collaborative.
Recently, the collaborative has decided its mission and vision and Fatima is working on facilitating the group to create a strategic plan and communications strategy that would assist in its effectiveness to share information and resources with the community at large. Fatima has also continued working with the Town ‘n Country Community Garden which is working in tandem with the schools in the area as a family hub that promotes holistic, healthy living for all.
