813 Hood Garden

The 813 Hood Garden is a a visionary community initiative initiated by long-term community resident and local leader, Dionne “Dee” Morales.

The 813 Hood Garden was created as a community garden and space to promote holistic health and provide access to fresh produce, wellness workshops, cultural art, and healing; especially to those who have been denied these opportunities due to their socioeconomic status, race, or environment.  Dee is has a passion for working with youth and has cultivated and created several curriculums, programs, and events that expose families to where their food comes from through inspiring and cultural relevant methods that are appropriate for all ages.

Strategies Employed:

Community Engagement and Coalition Building

Communication and Marketing in the Digital Age

Organizational Effectiveness and Strategic Planning

Fostering Awareness

CCC has worked with Dee since 2020, helping to connect her with resources, partners, and supporters that would help facilitate her ambitious visions into reality. From canvassing, writing grants, and getting dirty in the soil, CCC has assisted the 813 Hood Garden Movement and will continue to do so.

Keep up with the #813HoodGardenMovement
